Chrome OS/Chromebook

With Chrome OS you are unable to uninstall drivers, so if you have tried the web camera in an alternative app, other than google chrome and it’s still not working. Your only option is to factory reset your computer.

WARNING: this will erase everything on your computer, so make sure there is nothing on your computer you haven’t got a copy of elsewhere before performing the reset.

PLEASE DONT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING

  1. Sign out of your Chromebook and press 'ctrl + alt + shift + r' all at the same time on your keyboard.
  2. Select ‘Restart’.
  3. In the box that appears, select ‘Powerwash’ and then ‘continue’.
  4. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with the google account that is logged into the Chromebook.
  5. Once reset, go through the onscreen instructions to set up your Chromebook.

Apple Mac OSX

  2. When the terminal opens, type:
    sudo killall VDCAssistant
on your keyboard and press the enter key.
