No Cameras Shown

If no camera devices appear in the list and you are using an external webcam (one that isn’t built into your computer), check that it is securely connected.

If you plugged in or unplugged the camera while the tech test was running, refresh the page and start the test again.

Camera View Is Black or Not Visible

If you have selected your camera but the preview appears black or not visible:

  • External webcam:
Try unplugging the camera, plugging it back in, and then restarting the tech test.
If the issue continues, your camera may not be compatible - this is more common with older devices.
  • Built-in camera:
Restart your computer and try again.

Check if the Camera Works in Other Apps

To identify whether the issue is with your camera or your browser, try using your webcam in another application:

Windows: Use the Camera app
Mac: Use FaceTime
Chromebook: Use the Camera app

If your camera does not work in other applications, the issue is likely with your device or camera setup.

In this case, try updating or reinstalling your webcam drivers/software using our step-by-step guide. If you’re unsure, contact your IT department for assistance.
